Tips To Prevent UV Damage

August 31st, 2010

People are never really content with what they have.  Would you agree?

One simple example I have from my own experience that could be related to this is my desire to study.  When classes are on, I feel so tired and feel as if I am always on the edge of giving up.  I often lose the desire to read my notes and memorize certain lessons.  However, when classes are off, I almost always feel the desire to open my notes and I cannot wait to start going back to school again.

Another example relates to money.  When people are short of money, they say that having some money to buy food for three meals a day will be all that they will need.  However, when they’ve got the amount of money that they thought would be enough for them, then they want more for something else! In fact, more than likely, they will never be satisfied with their lot!  Do you also know people who are like this?  This kind of thinking can be found in those who came from being poor and have worked really hard to become millionaires.  They really do not seem satisfied at all with their wealth.

On another note, beauty is also something that people are not always satisfied with, especially women!  Are you one?  Well, I must admit I am not that satisfied but I cannot imagine myself undergoing reconstructive surgery.  This dissatisfaction is probably one of the reasons why cosmetic surgery is booming.  Don’t you think?  People just cannot accept that they are beautiful as they are. At one point, they would like to look like this, and on another occasion, they would like to look differently.  Say for example during the summer, many people are spending time under the sun just to get tanned.  For people like me who really love going to the beach, getting a tan is so easy.  Some do it artificially. Unfortunately, there are consequences that come along with getting tanned.  So my advice is, as far as possible, just be content with what God has given you.

Join This Search and Earn a Scholarship

Have you ever joined a pageant?  What was it like?  Beauty pageants are definitely great avenues for individual growth.  Say for example, the Search for Miss Universe.  The candidates are from different parts of the world and they compete for a title that brings honor and prestige not only to the candidates but to the countries they represent, as well.  Back stage, they may become friends and enjoy each others’ company whilst exploring Las Vegas.  As we often see it, the candidates are those in the front line, wearing the beautiful gowns that the different designers make.  Designers are not always in the limelight but they are actually a big factor in winning a pageant.  Would you agree?  A designer knows how to let the beauty of a particular candidate shine through by making the perfect gown for her.

I, too, had an experience in joining a beauty pageant.  It was not as huge an event as the Miss Universe, though.  I remember I went berserk in looking for the best gown.  And, it was at that time that I realized how good and passionate designers can be.  Are you one of them?  Oh, do you know that I really admire designers?  It is one of my frustrations that I’m not a fashion designer.  Anyway, I had difficulty in choosing a gown since for me, there were a lot of beautiful designs.  I believe it is passion and a love of their craft that makes fashion designers produce outstanding designs.  If only I had some of their creativity, I would join contests related to fashion.  I would see to it that I did my best to win a design prize.  I am not actually saying that it’s the prize that matters the most, but prizes can be a motivation in getting started and trying your hand at something new to you.  Am I right?

Are You Afraid of Looking Old?

August 8th, 2010

Old people are often stereotyped as having decreased functional ability and an elderly appearance which may be partly due to the stress and different experiences that he or she haver gone through over many years.  Aging, after all, is a natural process However, there are still those who manage to look young even with their increasing age.  Some use natural treatment, others who are financially able opt for interventions of one kind or another and there are others who just prefer to grow old gracefully!

I do know of one person, in particular, who is afraid of getting old.  It’s my mom.  She still looks young even at the age of 46.  Friends and aquaintances often joke with us, saying that we look like sisters.  But hey, that could mean either I look old or she looks young!  Oh, I’d rather accept the fact that she looks relatively young.  She doesn’t want her face to sag and to get wrinkles which is why she often use moisturizers and skin-friendly products.  Along with these, she tries her best to live a stress-free life.  That is one thing that I admire about her, really.  She’s a lawyer and she’s supposed to look old because of all the paperwork and the cases but she is wise enough to manage everything.

Try opening a beauty magazine and you will find that it seems as though all the models have full, pronounced cheeks and a firm, tight jaw lines.  In contrast, aging causes a loss of volume across the middle of the face, resulting in a flattened or sunken cheek structure with sagging jowls that can make the face appear drawn, tired and old. But, as I say, this is all a natural process and there’s no reason why this should worry you. In fact, I think there’s something wonderful about the look of old people. Just look at those Rembrandt portraits!

Prevention is the Best Solution to Nail Problems

August 7th, 2010

Clean and sexy nails accentuate the beauty of your hands and feet.  Do you know that for women, it is a part of the body that needs pampering, too?  Aside from having haircuts, facial treatments and body massage, this is one of the reasons why they usually visit the spa.  But mind you, I also know a number of men who are very meticulous on how their prospect’s fingers and toes look.  If they find them cute, then the girl’s definitely a turn on.

Having cute nails is an advantage if you have them.  However, you might be a bit worried if yours look like an old man’s!  A friend of mine shared how insecure she is because of her four dead toe nails.  Although she has a very pretty face and a fine body, she often has difficulty in mixing and matching her outfits.  And, that is only because of her toe nails.  She always has to attend to these by having a regular pedicure so that she can wear sandals and flip flops.  As well, she is slightly embarrassed when staff from the spa clean her not-so-attractive nails.  But of course, she does not always have enough time for this so there are times when the nail polish won’t look good anymore.  Then she is forced to use a closed pair of shoes just to hide them, thus having problems with the mix and match, especially if the outfit that would match the closed shoes is not really appropriate to the event where she is attending.
